The World’s First Client Scout
Between July 1, 2007 To August 31, 2007, Wayne cold called more than 4,000 homes in the Gorge, and Tillicum area of Victoria, BC. Wayne secured more orders than the new Client could handle. Which forced Wayne to take on a second Client, which just so happened to be a web developer, however, that’s another story.
It was a hot summer day. The sun was beating on his back as he stood in front of a total stranger’s door. He looked at his watch which read 13:00, Sunday, July 1, 2007. He thought to himself, that crowds most likely are beginning to form downtown for this Canadian national holiday.
Yet there he stood in front of a total stranger’s doorway, armed with the market research that he had performed on his new client’s products, and services which he had committed to memory. Along with many years of professional sales training, and the words of a former boss ringing in his head. “You’ll never find a professional sales job that lets you choose your own hours, never”. He had something to prove to himself, as well as the entire world.
With that, he took a deep breath and knocked loudly on the stranger’s door that stood in front of him. He took a step back as a man opened the door with a puzzled look on his face, and a question in his eyes. “Yes, may I help you?” the man asked. Wayne reached forward and firmly shook the man’s hand, all the while maintaining eye contact, and said. “Good afternoon, my name is Wayne. I am a Client Scout, and I represent…”At that very moment, the world’s first Client Scout was born.
